Goggles helps UC Berkeley students discover student organizations and clubs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you sign in and use Goggles, we may collect:
- Account information: your name, email address, and profile photo, provided via Google Sign-In.
- Profile information you provide: your major, interests, and any resume text or content you choose to upload or paste in, used to personalize club recommendations.
- Chat history: messages you send to and receive from our club-recommendation chatbot, saved so you can revisit past conversations.
- Usage & analytics data: pages visited, session length, and general interaction data, used to understand how people use Goggles and to improve it.
How we use your information
- To personalize club and organization recommendations
- To let you save and revisit chat sessions
- To operate, maintain, and improve Goggles
- To communicate with you, such as responding to inquiries or sending service-related notices
- To monitor and prevent misuse of the platform
We do not sell your personal information.
How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers we use to run Goggles, such as Google Firebase (authentication, database, and hosting) and OpenAI, solely to provide the service.
Data retention
We retain your account, profile, and chat data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your data at any time, by revoking Goggles' access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account permissions page.
Children's privacy
Goggles is intended for college-age students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use industry-standard tools (including Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules) to help protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
