BareStage Productions is the oldest student-run theatre company at UC Berkeley, founded in 1994. It produces five full-length mainstage shows each season, spanning musicals, classics, and new work, plus two ensembles: BareTroupe (musical theatre) and BarePage (student-written, acted, and directed short pieces). Members can participate as actors, directors, writers, musicians, designers, or technicians, and craft workshops are offered throughout the year regardless of production involvement.

Mainstage Productions
Five full-length shows each season performed in the Choral Rehearsal Hall, Cesar Chavez Center. Recent shows include Next to Normal, Romeo and Juliet, Alice By Heart, Jump, Footloose, Macbeth, Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, and Into the Woods.
BareTroupe Semester Showcase
End-of-semester musical theatre showcase open to the public. Spring 2026 performances were May 2-3 at 8pm in the Choral Rehearsal Hall.
BarePage Semester Showcase
End-of-semester showcase of student-written and directed short pieces, open to the public. Spring 2026 performances were May 4-5 at 8pm in the Choral Rehearsal Hall.
Member Experiences
Craft Workshops
Workshops offered throughout the year for members to hone their craft in disciplines such as lighting, musicianship, and dance. Open to all members regardless of participation in productions.
