Abba Modern

Abba Modern is a Christ-centered dance group at UC Berkeley that aims to spread Jesus's love to the Berkeley community through the art of dance and testimony. Each semester, members learn and perform a themed set at showcases across the Bay Area. The group also runs open community workshops each semester and a summer program (Summer Abba) where dancers of any faith background can explore Christianity through dance. Both Christians and non-Christians are welcome.

Community Dance Workshops
Open-to-all dance workshops held each semester on campus. Spring 2015 workshop was taught by Will Cheng and Grace Chen at Lower Sproul; all dance levels welcome.
Agape and Abba Modern Joint Workshop
A joint workshop with Agape, UC Davis's Christ-centered dance group, open to the broader Berkeley dance community.
Danceworx Showcase
Recurring each semester; Abba Modern performs its set at this campus showcase.
Movement Showcase
Recurring each semester at Zellerbach Playhouse; both Abba Modern and Abba Contemporary have performed here.
AFX Showcase
Recurring each semester; Abba Modern performs its set.
Fei Tian Dancers Showcase

Prelude NorCal Urban Dance Competition
Annual urban dance competition held at Chabot College Performing Arts Center in Hayward, CA.
Interpraise
Christian worship and performance event; Abba Modern performed at Interpraise 2014: The Kingdom.
Relay for Life
Abba Modern has performed at the UC Berkeley Relay for Life.
Calapalooza Performance (Summer Abba)
Summer Abba members build a set over the summer to perform at Calapalooza.

Summer Abba (SUMMABBA) Fellowship Nights
Weekly fellowship gatherings at a member's apartment during the summer program, featuring topical discussions, snacks, and time to get to know each other outside of dance.
