Do I need prior competitive experience to join?

No. The Recreational Team is open to skaters of all levels who want to participate without competing. Skaters often transfer to the Competition Team in as little as a semester.

What do I need to do to join the Competition Team?

You must audition, be medically cleared through RecWell, pay dues, and hold an active USFSA membership.

Where does the team practice?

All practices take place at the Oakland Ice Center.

Does the team travel to competitions?

Yes. Competition Team members travel to tournaments around the country to represent Cal, including events like the DU Open, City of Angels, Horsetooth Open, and the U.S. Intercollegiate Team Championships.

When are auditions for the Competition Team held?

Auditions for the 25-26 season take place in September at the Oakland Ice Center during the 7:00-8:00 AM and 8:15-9:15 AM sessions. Sign-up must be completed by September 7, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
