Second Presence (formerly known as Buddhist Community at Berkeley)

By Religion·Research·Tech

Second Presence explores what happens when spiritual experience enters virtual space. Members build 3D reconstructions of spiritual environments — Christian churches, Buddhist temples, caves, deserts — and bring to life elements like sacred light and transcendent presence that are hard to access physically. The club then compares these virtual encounters with participants' offline spiritual practices, studying how different sensory inputs shape belief, cognition, and meaning-making.
