No. GMMA welcomes any healthcare-interested student, and its ministries include nurses, dentists, pharmacists, mental health professionals, and others. The club also has a Creative Ministry for students interested in storytelling, design, and media in support of mission work.

What kinds of mission trips has GMMA organized?

Past trips have included short-term medical missions to Rosarito (Mexico), Honduras, the Philippines, and Cambodia. Destinations and dates vary each cycle; you can contact missions@gmma7.org for upcoming trips.

What is the mentorship program and how does it work?

GMMA pairs students with Christian healthcare professionals who serve as advisors, coaches, and faith mentors. Is UC Berkeley the only chapter, or is this part of a larger network?

UC Berkeley is one of more than 30 student chapters across the US, Canada, Australia, and South Korea. West Coast chapters alone include UW, UCLA, USC, UC Davis, UCSB, UCR, UCI, and UCSD, among others.

What happens after graduation, does involvement in GMMA end?

GMMA has a dedicated Postgraduate Ministry targeting gap-year and graduate students, offering fellowships, small groups, an annual retreat, mission trips alongside medical professionals, help with graduate school applications, and opportunities to serve as mentors or speakers for current college students.
