BASIS (Berkeley AI Safety Student Initiative) is a community of students working on building robust, transparent, and controllable AI systems. Members can join a Technical AI Safety DeCal (Wednesdays 6-8 PM, covering topics from RLHF to interpretability), an AI Policy Fellowship that meets weekly to explore governance frameworks, or an AI Policy Reading Group open to the broader Berkeley community. A speaker series featuring guests from OpenAI, DeepMind, and Anthropic is open to everyone.
