BJIL is a student-edited law journal at Berkeley Law that publishes twice a year, covering public international, private international, and comparative law. Members edit and prepare articles for publication, write book reviews, contribute to the Travaux blog and podcast, and help organize the annual Stefan A. Riesenfeld Symposium. It is open to first-year law students and serves as the center of Berkeley's international law community, connecting members with scholars and practitioners.
ApplicationsElections for board positions are held in the Spring of each academic year. General membership meetings are held at the beginning of each semester.

Stefan A. Riesenfeld Symposium 2026: Beyond Neutrality: Private International Law in a Multipolar World
April 9, 2026. Features distinguished speakers on sanctions and accountability, emerging technologies and AI, and climate action. Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, is the 2026 Riesenfeld Award recipient and will deliver a keynote. Light breakfast, lunch, and a reception are provided.
