UMCAB simulates Supreme Court appellate advocacy, competing in oral arguments and brief writing through the American Moot Court Association (AMCA). Members form two-person co-counsel teams, argue fictional constitutional law cases in front of judge panels, and travel to regional and national tournaments. The club is competitive but also tight-knit, and members build public speaking, legal argumentation, and case-reading skills directly applicable to law school. In 2024, a UMCAB team won the AMCA National Championship.

AMCA Regional Tournaments
Teams compete at regional tournaments to qualify for prenationals. Past regionals include Golden Gate Regional (11/18-11/19/23), Western Regional (11/03-11/04/23), and City of Angels Regional (10/28-10/29/23).
AMCA Preliminary Round of the National Tournament (Prenationals)
Teams that qualify from regionals compete at prenationals. UMCAB attended UNLV Pre-Nat in 2024.
AMCA National Tournament
Teams that qualify from prenationals compete at the national level for oral advocacy.
AMCA National Brief Writing Competition
Separate from oral advocacy tournaments, held in December.

Summer practices
Remote practices run through the summer after the team is announced in May, accommodating members' travel schedules.
Informal invitationals
Informal scrimmage-style competitions that take place before the official regional tournament season.
