Ecology Law Quarterly is Berkeley Law's environmental law journal, founded in 1971 and among the oldest and most cited in the country. Members spend their time source-collecting, cite-checking, blue-booking, and substantively editing articles on topics like climate change, environmental justice, renewable energy, and water law. In exchange, members get writing awards, public interest summer fellowships, mentorship, and a tight-knit community that also goes on Yosemite and Tahoe trips together.

Annual Symposium
ELQ's yearly public symposium brings in practitioners, academics, activists, and policy experts to discuss a focused environmental law topic. Recent themes include Toxic Exposures: Within and Without (2025), equitable access to green space (2024), rural lawyering (2023), and just transition (2022). Panels are published in the print journal.
Annual Banquet
A fundraising banquet at which ELQ presents the Environmental Leadership Award and student writing prizes. The next banquet is Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the UC Berkeley Faculty Club. Banquet proceeds support student attendance, fellowships, the ELQ Symposium, and the E&E Career Fair.
Race Judicata
A 5/10k race around the UC Berkeley campus sponsored by ELQ, raising funds for fellowships that support unpaid summer public interest and public sector positions.
