Room One Thousand is the graduate architecture journal at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design, based in Room 1000 of Wurster Hall. Each year, members curate, edit, and produce an annual print journal organized around a thematic concept, featuring scholarly articles, photo essays, interviews with practitioners, and speculative design work. The journal also runs the Speculative Ecologies Lab, a week-long spring program of panel discussions, site visits, and studios with invited fellows, culminating in a public exhibition or installation.

Speculative Ecologies Lab
Week-long spring program held at CED and the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation. Features panel discussions, site visits, and studio work guided by appointed external fellows, culminating in an exhibition, digital interface, performance, installation, or short film. Most recent edition ran March 31 to April 4, 2025, with fellows Amy Franceschini (Future Farmers) and Andrew Merritt (Something and Son).
Annual Journal Publication
Each spring, Room One Thousand publishes its annual print journal. Issue 14 (Intertidal) is forthcoming with orders to be fulfilled late May 2026.
