What are the five lines of service and what does each one actually do?

Blood organizes monthly on-campus blood drives, one of the largest in Northern California. Disaster teaches emergency preparedness, builds disaster kits, and installs free smoke alarms for low-income households. Health and Safety offers CPR/First Aid/AED certifications to members and teaches Hands-Only CPR to the broader Berkeley community. Community Engagement partners with Bay Area organizations to support vulnerable communities. Outreach handles collaborations, guest speakers, and social events.

Do I have to commit a fixed number of hours each week?

No weekly hour requirement is set. Active membership requires 10 total volunteer hours per semester, including 3 from General Meetings and 1 from a Social, plus attending at least 3 of the 7 General Meetings.

Can I get CPR certified through the club even if I am not deeply involved?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Health and Safety line provides CPR/First Aid/AED certifications to members and also runs public Hands-Only CPR demonstrations on Sproul open to the broader Berkeley community.

Question 4

Is there a formal application to join, or can anyone participate?

Accepted Answer

General membership is open to anyone who attends General Meetings and signs up for events. A separate Intern Application exists for students who want to work with the Executive Committee to plan events.

Question 5

What happens if I miss a General Meeting?

Slides from every General Meeting are posted online afterward, so members can stay up to date even if they miss one due to midterms, health, or personal conflicts.
