UC Berkeley SWE supports women and non-binary engineers through professional development, community, and K-12 outreach. Members attend monthly general meetings, join committees (advocacy, academic, mentorship, equity and inclusion), and network at sponsor info sessions and career workshops. Outreach programs include semester-long STEM courses for local middle and high school students. High-attendance members are invited to semesterly banquets. Officers shape SWE's direction and attend retreats and conferences.

Events They Host
High School Engineering Program (HSEP) Final Showcase
Culminating event of the 10-week HSEP program where student-mentor groups present their community-oriented engineering projects to family, friends, and community members. Runs fall (September-November) and spring (February-May).
SWE++ Final Project Showcase
End-of-program showcase where middle school students demonstrate their coding projects after a 10-week Python and Scratch curriculum.
SWE Science Saturdays
Monthly free hands-on STEM experiment sessions for 4th-5th grade students, conducted by UC Berkeley STEM student volunteers.
SWE Science Scholars
Monthly free hands-on STEM experiment sessions for 6th-8th grade students, conducted by UC Berkeley STEM student volunteers.
Mini University
Free one-day event for underrepresented 9th-11th grade Bay Area high school students. Includes hands-on engineering activities, lab tours, STEM career panels, and interaction with professors. Fall only. Fall 2024 date: November 19th, 2025.
Tech Day
Day-long conference for middle school (6th-8th grade) female and non-binary students. Includes hardware and software workshops, STEM and career panels. Spring 2026 date: Sunday, April 26th. Capacity approximately 60 students.
Engineering Day
Free Halloween-themed STEM outreach event for K-3rd graders and their parents/guardians. Includes hands-on science experiments, talks with student engineers, lighting talks with showcase, and arts and crafts. Costumes encouraged.
Overnight Host Program (OHP)
Full-day event for women and non-binary students admitted to UC Berkeley's College of Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Includes campus tours, lab tours, engineering club fair, professor snack time, peer advising small groups, keynote, dinner, and optional overnight stay with a current Berkeley engineering student. 2026 overnight: Friday April 17th to Saturday April 18th.
SWENext Day
One-day in-person event inviting students from SWENext-affiliated high school clubs to tour Berkeley, attend engineering professor panels, learn 3D modeling and soldering, and attend a leadership summit. Date TBD.
Academic Committee Research Symposium
End-of-semester event organized by the Academic Committee, featuring research presentations. Also hosts research talks, professor lunches, lab tours, and graduate student coffee chats throughout the semester.
SWE&I Talks and Town Hall Discussions
Events hosted by the Equity and Inclusion committee to provide a safe space for members to discuss identity and its impact on engineering experiences.
Sponsor Info Sessions and Career Workshops
Events co-hosted with corporate sponsors giving members opportunities to network with industry professionals.
