Cal Raijin Taiko is UC Berkeley's Japanese drumming ensemble, founded in 2005. Members practice three times a week, learning and performing all-original compositions. No prior taiko or musical experience is needed: tryouts are designed to build skills from the ground up. Members perform on and off campus throughout the year and put on an annual spring showcase. Alumni have gone on to found entirely new taiko groups across the country.
