No. Non-musicians are welcome to contribute through photography, social media, cheering on performers, or simply being part of the community. There are no auditions, no interviews, and no prerequisites.

What does a typical Friday meeting look like?

Meetings run 4-6 PM and include a welcome and updates segment (including a music-wellness research share), a free practice and jam block where members form casual ensembles or just listen, and optional one-on-one exec check-ins at the end.

What does the $10 membership fee cover?

It unlocks access to the club Slack and the ability to perform at service venues. Meetings are always free to attend without paying. Dues waivers are available by emailing heartstrings.berkeley@gmail.com.

Yes, there is a brief screening for members who want to perform at retirement homes, hospitals, and community events, to make sure those performances are a wonderful experience for everyone.
