Do I need a lot of singing experience to audition?

No. The group explicitly says not to be reluctant if you haven't had much experience with singing, and notes that many members have grown greatly as singers during their time in the group.

What does the audition process look like?

First-round auditions run Monday through Friday (8/24-8/28 in fall, 1/26-1/30 in spring), 3pm-8pm in 30-minute slots at the Cesar Chavez Student Center Basement. You'll do vocal warmups, sight reading, and a short solo of your choice (around 1 minute). Walk-ins are accepted on Fridays. Callbacks take place the following Saturday.

Can Noteworthy be hired to perform at private events?

Yes. The group performs at weddings, private parties, tailgates, conferences, and other events throughout the Bay Area. Email noteworthyucb@gmail.com with your event details to get a quote. UC Berkeley charity events may qualify for a reduced rate.

Question 4

What kinds of songs does Noteworthy perform?

Accepted Answer

The repertoire includes popular covers (e.g. Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5), UC Berkeley traditional songs, and original compositions written by members. The group can also pull from a large archive and take custom song requests with enough advance notice.

Question 5

What voice parts is Noteworthy looking for?

Accepted Answer

The group is open to all voice parts: sopranos, altos, tenors, baritones, and basses, as well as vocal percussionists. All genders are welcome.
