Helix is a California registered nonprofit run by UC Berkeley undergrads that hosts a free, four-week summer medical program for Bay Area high school students underrepresented in healthcare. Members design and teach the curriculum, run biological and clinical skills labs, coordinate guest speakers from Kaiser Permanente and UCSF, and mentor students one-on-one. As a Berkeley member, you build curriculum, manage logistics, recruit healthcare professionals, and help run an actual nonprofit serving the community.

Events They Host
Helix Summer Medical Program
Free four-week in-person program for Bay Area high school students. Includes core curriculum lectures, biological and clinical skills labs, guest speaker networking, and 1-on-1 physician mentorship from Kaiser Permanente. Summer 2025 ran June 7 to July 7.
Social Determinants of Health Capstone Presentation
At the end of the summer program, student participants present their SDOH research to the Bay Area healthcare community, including providers from Kaiser Permanente and UCSF.
