Founded in 1981, Renters' Legal Assistance helps UC Berkeley students and the surrounding community understand their rights as tenants. Members provide free in-office, group, and phone counseling, run public workshops and seminars, and conduct public interest research on housing issues. You'll gain hands-on experience advising real tenants on topics like Berkeley Rent Control, California Civil Code, and lease disputes.
