Sigma Pi Alpha is a Latina-founded sorority whose Alpha Chapter was established at UC Berkeley in 1996. Members, known as bELLAs, build sisterhood through shared culture and community, with values centered on being 'mujeres con cultura, fuerza, y hermandad' (women of culture, strength, and sisterhood). The chapter holds study jams and social events throughout the semester, and maintains bonds with sisters well past graduation.
