Southeast Asian Prison Outreach Project

Community Service/Nonprofit·South East Asian

Inspired by the African American Studies Department's Prison Pen Pal Program, this project connects UC Berkeley students and community members with incarcerated Southeast Asian men and women through correspondence. Founded in 2009, it grew from 3 initial contacts to over 35 pen pals. Members build meaningful relationships with incarcerated individuals, offering connection and support to an underserved community within the prison system.
