Who can submit to TRANSIT Journal?

Accepted Answer

Anyone may submit original scholarly or creative work for consideration. Submissions must deal with issues of mobility and migration in a German-language context, written in English or German, and must not be under simultaneous consideration elsewhere. There is never a charge for submission or publication.

How does the peer review process work?

TRANSIT uses a double-blind review process. To be published, an article must receive two positive reviews, and the author must revise the work to address the reviewers' questions. Faculty reviewers apply the same standards used for a leading journal in the field.

Question 3

Does TRANSIT publish only traditional academic articles?

Accepted Answer

No. Beyond peer-reviewed essays, TRANSIT publishes literary translations (with required translator's introductions), book reviews, multimedia projects, photo essays, film reviews, exhibition reviews, and other creative or experimental work. Issues also include an open forum for non-standard formats.

How can I join the editorial board?

TRANSIT seeks qualified peer reviewers from among academics, researchers, doctoral candidates, translators, and artists. Applicants should send a current CV, a short biography, and a list of academic interests to transitjournal@berkeley.edu, CC-ing the current managing editors. Active board members must review at least two submissions per published volume.

Question 5

Do authors keep copyright of their published work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Authors retain copyright ownership for all content published in TRANSIT. TRANSIT holds a non-exclusive right to make content available in any format in perpetuity, and published articles cannot be removed from the site even if later published elsewhere.
