Cal Seismic Design Team spends fall through early March designing, analyzing, and physically building a 5-foot tall balsa wood tower to compete in the international Seismic Design Competition hosted by EERI against 40+ universities. Members join one of three modules: Design (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Illustrator), Analysis (SAP2000 seismic modeling), or Construction (hands-on building). The team meets Tuesdays and Thursdays and welcomes all majors, years, and GPAs.

EERI Seismic Design Competition
Annual international competition hosted by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. The team travels to a different city each year to test their balsa wood building against severe ground motions, competing against 40+ universities. Competition takes place in March.
