STAC is a student-run engineering org where members build and launch real space hardware. Active projects include a quantum gyroscope CubeSat qualifying novel sensor technology in low Earth orbit, microgravity biology experiments flown on Blue Origin's New Shepard, a High Altitude Balloon program that lifts payloads to 100,000 feet for under $2,000, and an AI-driven autonomous lunar rover. Members work alongside NASA Ames, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and UC Berkeley's Space Science Laboratory.

Events They Host
Space Tech Symposium 2022
Co-hosted with STAR and SEB on May 4, 2022 at Sibley Auditorium. Featured 10+ professional speakers, three panels on space entrepreneurship, how space helps life on Earth, and space infrastructure and services, plus a keynote by Dr. Eugene Tu of NASA Ames and two poster sessions open to attendees.
High Altitude Balloon Launches
Public launches of scientific payloads to 100,000 feet. Three completed; a fourth was planned for Fall 2019. A $500 crowdfunding perk grants an invitation to the next launch.
