ChemE Car builds shoebox-sized cars powered and controlled entirely by chemical reactions, then competes in the AIChE-sponsored Chemical Engineering Car competition. Members join one of several subteams, each developing a different power source or stopping mechanism, such as magnesium-air batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, or iodine clock reactions. The club fields two cars per year at the Western Regional Competition, competing against schools from California and Nevada, with the goal of qualifying for Nationals.

AIChE Western Regional Competition
Annual regional competition against schools from California and Nevada. The team fields two cars. Events include car performance, car poster competition, student paper competition, student poster competition, and ChemE Jeopardy.
AIChE National Competition
National competition attended when the team qualifies at Regionals.
