Korean Graduate Students Association

KGSA is the official Korean graduate student association at UC Berkeley, open to MS, PhD, and postdoc/visiting researchers at UC Berkeley and LBNL. Members get access to a job board with Korean company recruiting events, a community marketplace for buying and selling goods, sports clubs (tennis, soccer, basketball), and social events like fall picnics and orientations. The association also helps incoming students settle in through KakaoTalk open chats and a UC Berkeley guidebook.
Events They Host
New Graduate Student Orientation
Annual orientation held each August for incoming Korean graduate students. Past dates: Aug. 25 2023, Aug. 30 2024, Aug. 29 2025.
Berkeley x Stanford Academic Conference and Networking
Annual joint academic conference with Stanford. 1st edition: Nov. 4, 2023; 2nd edition: Nov. 15, 2024.
Berkeley x Stanford Sports Day
Annual inter-school sports day. Past dates: Apr. 6, 2024 and Apr. 19, 2025.
Primer Sazze Cup (Stanford Tennis Match)
1st edition held Sep. 30, 2023 at Mission College, Santa Clara. Berkeley vs. Stanford doubles tennis competition with Advanced, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, and Women's divisions.
KGSA General Meeting
Semester general meeting open to members. Past examples: 2025 Spring Berkeley KGSA General Meeting (Jan. 31, 2025); 2024 Spring KSEA x KGSA General Meeting (Feb. 2, 2024).
Member Experiences
Fall Picnic
Annual fall outdoor gathering for members. Past dates: Sep. 3, 2023 and Sep. 14, 2024.
Weekly Tennis Meetings
Saturday mornings 10am-12pm at Memorial Park, Albany (ball machine, rally, and doubles courts). Thursday evening doubles sessions also available. Open to all skill levels including beginners.
Soccer Club Activities (UCB Galacticos)
Weekly soccer practices and matches in the UC Berkeley IM league and Bay Area Adult Soccer League (BAASL). Friendly matches against other Bay Area Korean teams. Social events including BBQs and dinners.
