Do I need research experience or a perfect GPA to apply?

Accepted Answer

No requirements exist to apply. PMHS strongly encourages all interested pre-med students to apply regardless of academic or extracurricular history. GPA guidelines (3.70 for second-semester freshmen, 3.50 for everyone else) are listed as things that may holistically strengthen an application, not as hard cutoffs. First-semester freshmen are ineligible to apply.

What kind of access do members get beyond regular club meetings?

Members gain access to a Slack channel that regularly posts volunteering, research, and career opportunities. They also receive discounts on MCAT prep courses through Kaplan, Blueprint, and Wizeprep (15% off) and on medical school admissions consulting through Inspira Advantage (10% off).

Is PMHS affiliated with or backed by the university?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PMHS is the only pre-medical organization on campus directly sponsored by the College of Letters and Science.

Does PMHS do anything specifically for international or transfer students?

Yes. PMHS hosts events tailored specifically toward international students and transfer students, and transfer students may be considered for GPA exceptions on application prerequisites.

What is the member blog, and can I contribute to it?

PMHS publishes a member-written blog covering health research, personal pre-med stories, healthcare policy, and practical advice (e.g. MCAT study tools, finding research positions). The archive goes back to at least 2020, and members write and edit the articles each semester.

Pre-Medical Honor Society
