Sustainable Housing at California

Engineering·Environmental/Sustainability·Community Service/Nonprofit·Research·Education

SHAC is a student organization that designs and builds sustainable homes, drawing on political, urban planning, architectural, and engineering theory. Members work on real construction projects focused on energy efficiency, affordability, and housing equity, including tiny houses, transitional homes, and community villages. Projects range from Solar Decathlon competitions to backyard housing programs for unhoused individuals. Members also consult with community partners and can take a related DeCal course.
