Yes. WiCSE specifically serves womxn pursuing graduate degrees in EECS and related disciplines at UC Berkeley. Undergraduates interested in a similar community are directed to AWE (awe.berkeley.edu) instead.

How long has WiCSE been around?

WiCSE was founded in 1977 by CS graduate students and celebrated its 45th anniversary in March 2023, making it one of the longest-running organizations of its kind. Its success is credited to continuity, ongoing contact with successful alumnae, and support from EECS for staff, space, and funding.

Does WiCSE do anything beyond events for its own members?

Yes. Beyond community-building and career development for graduate students, WiCSE runs outreach and mentorship programs for students ranging from elementary school through undergraduate.
