HMAP is an entirely student-run organization founded in 1984 that offers three subprograms: the Field Study Internship (FSI), where students shadow physicians 6-8 hours a week in specialties like pediatrics, cardiology, or obstetrics; the Health Service Internship (HSI), where students intern with Bay Area nonprofits focused on underserved communities; and Public Health 116, a 3-unit seminar with guest speakers on ethics, policy, and public health. Each subprogram earns 3 units of pass/no pass credit.
