The Patient Support Corps is a service-learning internship program at UCSF that trains pre-health students to serve as patient navigators and health coaches at real clinical sites, including UCSF's Breast Care Center, Transplant Division, and the San Francisco VA. Interns work directly with patients under physician and nursing supervision, learn clinical technology like electronic health records, and earn academic credit or a stipend. Between 2004 and 2021, 91% of alumni from five or more years ago completed medical, pharmacy, or nursing school.
